A water-stable europium-MOF sensor for the selective, sensitive ratiometric fluorescence detection of anthrax biomarker

Xiao-Yang Zhao et al.

Summary: A 3D Eu-MOF with outstanding thermal and water stability was synthesized and showed high detection sensitivity for the main biology marker DPA. The compound effectively restored Eu3+ fluorescence in the presence of DPA and exhibited dual-emission fluorescence response. This study provides insight into the detection mechanism of DPA by Eu-MOF through a combination of DFT and various analytical methods.

A selective detection of nanomolar-range noxious anions in water by a luminescent metal-organic framework

Pooja Daga et al.

Summary: This new metal-organic framework (MOF) exhibits excellent recognition ability toward five toxic oxo-anions under UV light irradiation, with significantly lower detection limits than recommended levels in the aqueous environment. The luminescence quenching mechanism of MOF in the presence of these anions involves interruption of the sensitization process of the Tb center and molecular-level interactions with Y3+/Tb3+ centers. The inner filter effect also contributes to the quenching of luminescence intensity for certain anions.

Recent progresses in luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) as sensors for the detection of anions and cations in aqueous solution

Jing Jin et al.

Summary: Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) serve as fluorescent probes to rapidly and effectively detect excessive metal ions and anions in water, showing great potential for application. The luminescence properties of LMOFs are influenced by the selection of metal ions, the structure of organic ligands, the pore size, and the interaction of guest molecules, requiring further research and development.

A terbium(III) lanthanide-organic framework as a selective and sensitive iodide/bromide sensor in aqueous medium

Lan-Jun Liu et al.

Summary: A potent luminescent sensor for the detection of iodide ions was developed based on a terbium(iii)-based lanthanide-organic framework, showing superior luminescence quenching behavior towards I- with high sensitivity and selectivity. The mechanism of the selective luminescence quenching response for I- can be mainly explained by the absorption competition between the sensor and I-.
