Can a protophobic vector boson explain the ATOMKI anomaly?

Xilin Zhang et al.

Summary: In 2016, the ATOMKI collaboration observed an unexpected enhancement of e(+)-e(-) pair production signal in a Be-8 nuclear transition induced by a proton beam on a Li-7 target. This led to the proposal of a new particle explanation, but by deriving an isospin relation and comparing with measured photon production, it was found that this hypothesis cannot be validated by experimental observations.

Challenges for a QCD axion at the 10 MeV scale

Jia Liu et al.

Summary: In this article, an interesting realization of the QCD axion is reported with detailed study on its viability and compatibility with experimental constraints. The study provides insights into the conditions under which this axion variant may lead to observed quark masses and CKM mixing angles, and remain consistent with the extended scalar sector of the Standard Model extension. The potential decay of the Standard Model-like Higgs boson into two light axions is also discussed, offering a novel Higgs boson signature that may be searched for at the LHC in the near future.

Search for new light vector boson using J/Ψ at BESIII and Belle II

Kayoung Ban et al.

Summary: We explore various search strategies for the light vector boson X in the O(10) MeV mass range using J/Psi associated channels at BESIII and Belle II, with a comprehensive study of the future sensitivities at Belle II with 50 ab(-1) luminosity. The third method, requiring the displaced vertex to be within the beam pipe, results in nearly background-free analysis, allowing the probing of vector boson-electron coupling and the vector boson mass in an unprecedented range. This range includes the favored signal region of the Be-8(*) anomaly recently reported by the Atomki experiment with a similar or equal to 17 MeV mass for X.

Sensitivity of the SHiP experiment to light dark matter

C. Ahdida et al.

Summary: Dark matter, supported by observations in modern astrophysics and cosmology, is a well-established theoretical addition to the Standard Model. The SHiP experiment aims to detect elusive particles in the sub-GeV mass range, potentially improving current limits for dark matter from 1 MeV to 300 MeV and probing thermal relics for Majorana candidates.

Signals of the QCD axion with mass of 17 MeV/c2: Nuclear transitions and light meson decays

Daniele S. M. Alves

Summary: The QCD axion remains experimentally viable in a specific mass range with certain properties, which can explain anomalies observed in nuclear deexcitations. These properties also naturally explain the absence of anomalous features in other measured transitions.
