Moisturizing mechanism of glycerol and diglycerol on human stratum corneum studied by synchrotron X-ray diffraction

Summary: By using dynamic X-ray diffraction, the study investigated the moisturizing mechanism of polyol solutions in the stratum corneum. Results indicated that solutions containing glycerol and glycerol/diglycerol were more effective in maintaining the hydrated state of corneocytes.
