Circular RNA CircCDH13 contributes to the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis via CircCDH13/miR-296-3p/PTEN axis

Zhibin Zhou et al.

Summary: Circular RNAs play a significant role in osteoarthritis (OA), particularly CircCDH13, which induces chondrocyte apoptosis, promotes extracellular matrix degradation, and inhibits extracellular matrix synthesis in OA cartilage tissues. CircCDH13 acts as a sponge for miR-296-3p and regulates the miR-296-3p-PTEN pathway, contributing to OA pathogenesis. Silencing CircCDH13 reduces chondrocyte apoptosis, inhibits matrix degradation, and promotes matrix synthesis through the miR-296-3p-PTEN pathway, showing promise as a potential target for future OA interventions.

Downregulation of hsa_circ_0074854 Suppresses the Migration and Invasion in Hepatocellular Carcinoma via Interacting with HuR and via Suppressing Exosomes-Mediated Macrophage M2 Polarization

Yong Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed upregulation of hsa_circ_0074854 in HCC, with its knockdown inhibiting tumor growth. Mechanistically, hsa_circ_0074854 knockdown reduced HCC cell migration and invasion by interacting with HuR. Moreover, hsa_circ_0074854 was transferred from HCC cells to macrophages via exosomes, suppressing macrophage M2 polarization and subsequently inhibiting HCC cell migration and invasion.

Circular RNA circ_0128846 promotes the progression of osteoarthritis by regulating miR-127-5p/NAMPT axis

Chao Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that circ_0128846 and NAMPT were upregulated while miR-127-5p was downregulated in OA cartilage tissues. Inhibiting circ_0128846 can increase cell viability, inhibit apoptosis, inflammation, and ECM degradation, which can be reversed by downregulating miR-127-5p. MiR-127-5p promotes cell viability and suppresses apoptosis, inflammation, and ECM degradation by directly targeting NAMPT.

Suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 is induced in Huntington's disease and involved in autophagy

KyoungJoo Cho et al.

Summary: SOCS2 is upregulated in Huntington's disease and substantially induced in extended polyglutamine-expressing striatal cells. The induced level is augmented under aging conditions. In extended polyglutamine-expressing cells, downregulated SOCS2 improves autophagic dysfunction rather than altered inflammatory conditions.

Exosomal circ-BRWD1 contributes to osteoarthritis development through the modulation of miR-1277/TRAF6 axis

Zhenye Guo et al.

Summary: The study reveals that circ-BRWD1 plays a crucial role in osteoarthritis, promoting IL-1 beta-induced damage of CHON-001 cells by regulating the miR-1277/TRAF6 axis. Silencing circ-BRWD1 enhances cell viability and proliferation, while reducing apoptosis, inflammation, and extracellular matrix degradation.

被撤回的出版物: Circular RNA CSNK1G1 promotes the progression of osteoarthritis by targeting the miR-4428/FUT2 axis (Retracted article. See vol. 49, 2022)

Jianwei Xiao et al.

Summary: The study found that circCSNK1G1 is upregulated in OA and is associated with ECM degradation and chondrocyte apoptosis, while miR-4428 and FUT2 have different expression patterns in OA cartilage tissues. miR-4428 inhibits FUT2 expression by targeting FUT2 mRNA. Overall, this study demonstrates that circCSNK1G1 promotes the development of OA by targeting the miR-4428/FUT2 axis.
