Defect-related optical properties of Mg-doped ZnO nanoparticles synthesized via low temperature hydrothermal method

Siyi Liu et al.

Summary: In this research, monodispersed Mg-doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized through low temperature hydrothermal method, showing improved optical band gap and photoluminescence performance with increasing Mg content. The visible emission band consists of green, yellow, and red emission bands associated with different defect states, which can be explained by the analysis of Mg content- and temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra.

Engineering of g-C3N4 nanoparticles/WO3 hollow microspheres photocatalyst with Z-scheme heterostructure for boosting tetracycline hydrochloride degradation

Haochuan Jing et al.

Summary: The integration of g-C3N4 NP with WO3 NHMs to form a direct Z-scheme heterojunction has developed a highly efficient photocatalyst for tetracycline hydrochloride removal. This structure enhances optical absorption, promotes reactant molecule adsorption, and facilitates effective charge separation and transfer. The hybrid catalyst shows significantly improved photocatalysis towards TC degradation compared to bulk g-C3N4 and pristine WO3 NHMs.

Nitrogen doped g-C3N4 with the extremely narrow band gap for excellent photocatalytic activities under visible light

Dandan Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped g-C3N4 (NCN) with an extremely narrow band gap was prepared and applied to enhance the photocatalytic activity for phenol degradation. Experimental and theoretical results showed that nitrogen doping improved photogenerated carrier separation and charge transfer, leading to increased visible light absorption and enhanced photocatalytic performance. The introduction of foreign atoms in the matrix can be a strategy to enhance the photocatalytic activity of photocatalysts.

Preparation of a ternary g-C3N4-CdS/Bi4O5I2 composite photocatalysts with two charge transfer pathways for efficient degradation of acetaminophen under visible light irradiation

Kaiyu Li et al.

Summary: A series of g-C3N4-CdS/Bi(4)O(5)I(2) composites with good photocatalytic activity and stability for acetaminophen degradation were prepared in this study. The enhanced performance is attributed to the formation of ternary heterojunctions providing multiple channels for photogenerated charge transfer and the improved visible light absorption capacity with the addition of Bi4O5I2. Additionally, the transfer of holes from CdS to g-C3N4 helped prevent photocorrosion of CdS, enhancing the stability of the composites.
