Finite Difference Implicit Structural Modeling of Geological Structures

Modeste Irakarama et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new method for implicit structural modeling, focusing on new regularization operators extended from properties of classic one-dimensional discrete second derivative operator to higher dimensions. The proposed regularization operators naturally discretize on Cartesian grid, do not require special treatment on boundary nodes, and generalize straightforwardly to higher dimensions, making implementation simple. Numerical examples demonstrate the robustness and numerical efficiency of the proposed method.

LoopStructural 1.0: time-aware geological modelling

Lachlan Grose et al.

Summary: LoopStructural is an open-source 3D geological modeling Python package that provides a generic API for 3D geological modeling applications. It offers six different interpolation algorithms to model different geological objects and incorporates geological features using a time-aware approach.
