A. Bafekry et al.

Summary: The MoSi2N4 monolayer exhibits stability, similar work function to phosphorene and MoS2, an indirect semiconductor structure, and slightly larger-than-unity figure of merit for thermoelectric performance at high temperatures. Optically, the first absorption peak is in the visible range, making it promising for advanced optoelectronic nanodevices.

Electronic and magnetic properties of two-dimensional of FeX (X = S, Se, Te) monolayers crystallize in the orthorhombic structures

A. Bafekry et al.

Summary: This study investigated the lattice, dynamical stability, and electronic and magnetic properties of FeX (X=S, Se, Te) monolayers using density functional calculations. The FeX monolayers were found to be stable and brittle, with FeTe monolayer having lower total magnetization than FeTe bulk, while FeSe and FeS were nonmagnetic. FeTe monolayer was identified as a good candidate for spin filter applications, highlighting the potential of FeX monolayers in electronic structures.

Ab initio prediction of semiconductivity in a novel two-dimensional Sb2X3 (X= S, Se, Te) monolayers with orthorhombic structure

A. Bafekry et al.

Summary: In this study, the atomic lattice, electronic, and optical properties of Sb2S3, Sb2Se3 and Sb2Te3 monolayers were explored using density functional theory simulations, revealing their thermal and dynamical stability as well as semiconductor characteristics. Optical simulations showed these nanosheets are suitable for absorbing visible and IR light, with potential application in polarization-sensitive photodetectors. Additionally, electrical transport properties were investigated, showing significant power factor values at optimal doping concentration for all three materials, indicating promising prospects for their application in novel electronic, optical, and energy conversion systems.
