What removals of pathogen indicators can be expected within large-scale wastewater treatment facilities in the context of wastewater reuse in Paris conurbation?

R. Mailler et al.

Summary: The fate of pathogen indicators in large-scale Parisian wastewater treatment plants, using different processes, showed that MBR process achieved the highest removal rates. Implementation of micro-grain activated carbon, ozonation or performic acid treatment could further enhance the removal of pathogens. However, challenges remain in meeting reuse standards, particularly related to sulfite reducing bacteria and RNA-F bacteriophages.

Sludge conditioning, thickening and dewatering optimization in a screw centrifuge decanter: Which means for which result?

P. Ginisty et al.

Summary: Centrifuges are commonly used in wastewater treatment plants for sludge thickening and dewatering, but predicting and optimizing their performance and settings can be challenging. Laboratory tests, including volatile matters characterization and various tests to assess performance, are necessary to decrease optimization time at full scale. These tests are compared with the performance of screw centrifuge decanters at lab and full scale.
