Background study for (n,γ) cross section measurements with C6D6 detectors at CSNS Back-n

Jie Ren et al.

Summary: The Back-n beam line of the China Spallation Neutron Source is the first white neutron facility in China, aiming to measure radiative neutron capture cross-section. Experimental backgrounds of Au-197 were studied, with time-dependent backgrounds induced by scattered neutrons and in-beam gamma-rays being measured and analyzed. Monte Carlo simulations of these backgrounds showed good agreement with experimental results, validating the background evaluation method.
