Advanced Cr(VI) sorption properties of activated carbon produced via pyrolysis of the Posidonia oceanica seagrass

Georgios Asimakopoulos et al.

Summary: This research investigates the use of activated carbon derived from Posidonia oceanica for the removal of Cr(VI) from wastewater. The activated carbon exhibited high specific surface area and pore volume, with a significant portion allocated to micro-pores. Batch experiments showed the material's excellent sorption properties and high adsorption capacity, with a maximum uptake capacity of 120 mg/g. Kinetic modeling revealed that the Diffusion-Chemisorption model best described the adsorption process.

Fabrication of chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol/amine modified carbon nanotube composite films for rapid chromate removal

Yasar Andelib Aydin

Summary: Composite adsorbent films with amine and hydroxyl functionalities were synthesized from chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol, and amine-modified carbon nanotubes. The incorporation of a-MWCNT into the structure resulted in the generation of nanochannels, enhancing the adsorption capacity. The composite showed high efficiency in chromium removal and good regeneration performance in adsorption-desorption cycles.

Evaluating the adsorption of Shanghai silty clay to Cd(II), Pb(II), As(V), and Cr(VI): kinetic, equilibrium, and thermodynamic studies

Jinxin Wang et al.

Summary: The adsorption properties of Shanghai silty clay (SSC) towards heavy metal ions Cd(II), Pb(II), As(V), and Cr(VI) were investigated, revealing high sorption capacities and dominant adsorption on the clay surface. Langmuir model fits well for Cd(II) and Pb(II) while Freundlich model is suitable for As(V) and Cr(VI). Thermodynamic analysis shows spontaneous and endothermic adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II, while exothermic adsorption of As(V) and Cr(VI).
