Mechanochemical Approach to Preparation of MFI Zeolites Substituted Isomorphously by Both Al and Fe as Durable Catalysts for the Dimethyl Ether to Olefin Reaction

Mizuho Yabushita et al.

Summary: The zeolites with an MFI-type framework topology containing both Al and Fe atoms were prepared via a two-step mechanochemically assisted method. Compared to zeolites prepared via the conventional one-pot hydrothermal process using homogeneous reagents, the thus-prepared [Al, Fe]-MFI zeolites exhibited a longer catalyst lifetime in the catalytic conversion of dimethyl ether into light olefins due to better homogeneity of Fe atoms in the zeolite catalyst achieved by the mechanochemically assisted method.

Effects of Bronsted acid site proximity in chabazite zeolites on OH infrared spectra and protolytic propane cracking kinetics

Philip M. Kester et al.

Summary: The arrangement of framework Al heteroatoms in zeolite lattices influences the energetics of proton siting and the distribution of protons among crystallographically-distinct oxygen atoms and void environments. Experimental results show that different arrangements of framework Al in zeolites lead to changes in vibrational frequencies and molar absorptivities of protons, affecting the equilibrium proton populations and OH IR spectra.

Organic Structure-Directing Agent-Free Synthesis of Mordenite-Type Zeolites Driven by Al-Rich Amorphous Aluminosilicates

Ting Xiao et al.

Summary: MOR-type zeolites with a Si/Al ratio of up to 13 and crystallite sizes of around 60 nm were successfully synthesized from Al-rich aluminosilicates with additional SiO2 under seed-assisted hydrothermal conditions. The presence of pentacoordinated Al species in the Al-rich aluminosilicates played a decisive role in the OSDA-free synthesis of MOR-type zeolites, while control experiments using other starting reagents failed to yield the desired product.

Mechanochemical Route for Preparation of MFI-Type Zeolites Containing Highly Dispersed and Small Ce Species and Catalytic Application to Low-Temperature Oxidative Coupling of Methane

Mizuho Yabushita et al.

Summary: MFI-type zeolites containing highly dispersed Ce species prepared by a mechanochemically assisted two-step method exhibited unique catalytic performance for the oxidative conversion of methane. The combination of Pd and Ce species in the zeolite produced ethane even at low reaction temperatures.

Control of location and distribution of heteroatoms substituted isomorphously in framework of zeolites and zeotype materials

Mizuho Yabushita et al.

Summary: Zeolites and zeotype materials are key functional materials used as adsorbents and catalysts in the chemical industry, with their function and performance significantly dependent on the heteroatoms that substitute the tetrahedral sites in the frameworks. The location and distribution of these substituting heteroatoms, mainly Al3+, play a crucial role in determining the performance of zeolites and zeotype materials as adsorbents and catalysts.
