Charge Condensation and Lattice Coupling Drives Stripe Formation in Nickelates

Summary: This study used resonant x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy to investigate the temporal stability and domain memory of charge and spin stripes in La2-xSrx NiO4+delta, revealing that while spin stripes are more spatially correlated, charge stripes exhibit better temporal stability against temperature change and strong domain memory during thermal cycling. The results suggest that charge stripes are pinned to the lattice and charge condensation plays a predominant role in the formation of stripe orders in nickelates.
