Effects of Rastall parameter on perturbation of dark sectors of the Universe

Summary: Rastall gravity, a modified gravity theory with a non-conserved energy-momentum tensor and an unusual non-minimal coupling, has gained popularity recently. The theory's parameter crucially affects the dynamics of density contrasts for dark matter and dark energy, leading to different outcomes of spherical collapse compared to general relativity. Numerical solutions in the nonlinear regime show that dark energy perturbations can amplify the growth rate of dark matter perturbations depending on the Rastall parameter values.

Shadows of black hole surrounded by anisotropic fluid in Rastall theory

Summary: Due to the gravitational lensing effect, a black hole projects a shadow larger than its horizon over a bright background, and the shape and size can be calculated. The first direct image of a black hole produced by the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration is consistent with the shadow of a Kerr black hole according to general relativity. Deviations from the Kerr black hole due to modified theories of gravity are important for testing these theories through astrophysical observation.
