Vibrational mode-specific dynamics of the F(2P3/2) + C2H6 → HF + C2H5 reaction

Dora Papp et al.

Summary: This study investigates the competing effects of vibrational and translational excitation in the F(P-2(3/2)) + C2H6 -> HF + C2H5 reaction, finding that the promoting effects of vibrational excitations are suppressed by early-barrier-induced translational enhancement. Excess vibrational energy mainly converts into ethyl internal excitation, while collision energy is transformed into product separation. The reaction energy excites the HF vibration, showing mode-specificity and translational energy dependence.

First-Principles Reaction Dynamics beyond Six-Atom Systems

Gabor Czako et al.

Summary: This study discusses the new era and future of first-principles reaction dynamics beyond the six-atomic benchmark systems, focusing on complex, multichannel chemical reactions. Methodology involves benchmark ab initio characterization of stationary points, full-dimensional PES developments, and reaction dynamics computations. The composite ab initio approach, ROBOSURFER program system, and applications for post-six-atom reactions highlight issues, solutions, and excellent agreement between theory and experiment.

Vibrational mode-specificity in the dynamics of the Cl + C2H6 → HCl + C2H5 reaction

Dora Papp et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mode-specificity of the Cl + C2H6 reaction by simulating the excitation of different vibrational modes of ethane at various collision energies. It is found that all vibrational excitations, except for the CC-stretching mode, promote the reaction, with the CH-stretching excitations having the most significant effect. Intramolecular vibrational redistribution is also observed for the differently excited ethane molecule. The mechanism of the reaction changes with increasing collision energy, with no mode-specificity observed at high energies.
