Design and synthesis of novel mitochondria-targeted CDDO derivatives as potential anti-cancer agents

Wei Ju et al.

Summary: This study improved the mitochondrial-targeting ability and selectivity of CDDO derivatives by linking triphenyl-phosphine cations or tricyclohexylphosphine cations. The new compound 5b showed greater activity against tumor cells than existing CDDO derivatives, causing apoptosis mainly through the mitochondria-mediated intrinsic pathway.

Procyanidin B1 promotes in vitro maturation of pig oocytes by reducing oxidative stress

Wei Gao et al.

Summary: Supplementation with PB1 during in vitro maturation of porcine oocytes effectively enhances oocyte maturation and blastocyst development, reduces ROS production and apoptotic levels, and increases mitochondrial membrane potential and GSH levels.PB1 is a promising antioxidant additive for improving oocyte quality and promoting embryo development during IVM.

Protonophoric action of BAM15 on planar bilayers, liposomes, mitochondria, bacteria and neurons

Alexander M. Firsov et al.

Summary: BAM15, a novel compound with protonophoric activity, shows protective effects against cell malfunctions and can be used as a mitochondria-selective uncoupler. It exhibits activity similar to the classical protonophoric uncoupler CCCP in bilayer lipid membranes and mitochondria. Additionally, BAM15 also has regulatory effects on bacterial growth and electrical activity of molluscan neurons.

Safety, Antitumor Activity, and T-cell Responses in a Dose-Ranging Phase I Trial of the Oncolytic Peptide LTX-315 in Patients with Solid Tumors

James Spicer et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that local administration of LTX-315 in patients with advanced solid tumors was well-tolerated and safe, with evidence of changes in the tumor microenvironment and immune-mediated anticancer activity. Analysis showed that LTX-315 induced necrosis and CD8(+) T-cell infiltration within the tumor microenvironment, as well as significant expansion of T-cell clones in peripheral blood.
