Parton distributions from LHC, HERA, Tevatron and fixed target data: MSHT20 PDFs

S. Bailey et al.

Summary: The new MSHT20 set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton, determined from global analyses of hard scattering data, includes updates such as improved parameterizations, new precise data, and NNLO QCD corrections. The NNLO fit is strongly favored over the NLO due to wider range and increased precision of data included in the fit, resulting in reduced uncertainties in predictions for processes such as Higgs, top quark pair, and W, Z production at post LHC Run-II energies.

Regge theory in a holographic dual of QCD in the Veneziano limit

Artur Amorim et al.

Summary: In this study, Regge theory in a bottom-up holographic model for QCD in the Veneziano limit is explored with the backreaction of quarks to gluon dynamics included, leading to a successful fit to the meson spectrum. The model is extended to include higher spin fields dual to the Pomeron and meson Regge trajectories, enabling a fit to masses of mesons with spins J = 2, 3, and 4, as well as experimental data of total cross-sections sigma(gamma gamma -> X), sigma(gamma p -> X) and sigma(pp -> X). The obtained chi(2) d.o.f. of 0.74 for 199 experimental points indicates a good agreement for the cross sections.

Mass radius of the proton

Dmitri E. Kharzeev

Summary: The mass radius of the proton was determined using the form factor of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor of QCD, with a resulting value of Rm = 0.55 +/- 0.03 fm. This value was found to be significantly smaller than the charge radius of the proton, with the difference attributed to the effects of asymptotic freedom and spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry in QCD. Future measurements are needed to further refine the determination of the mass radius.

Meson and glueball spectroscopy within the graviton soft wall model

Matteo Rinaldi et al.

Summary: The graviton soft wall (GSW) model provides a unified description of the spectra of scalar glueballs and mesons, accurately reproducing the masses of various spins' odd and even ground states of glueballs, as well as the spectra of rho, a(1), and eta mesons. This achievement is obtained without any additional parameters, indicating a strong predictive power.

Towards the three-dimensional parton structure of the pion: Integrating transverse momentum data into global QCD analysis

N. Y. Cao et al.

Summary: This study presents a new Monte Carlo QCD analysis of pion parton distribution functions, including transverse momentum dependent pion-nucleus Drell-Yan cross sections for the first time. Sensitivity to kinematic cuts, factorization scale, and parametrization choice were assessed, with discussions on the impact of various datasets on the pion's quark and gluon distributions. This research marks a necessary step towards the simultaneous analysis of collinear and transverse momentum dependent pion distributions, leading to the determination of the pion's three-dimensional structure.

QCD analysis of near-threshold photon-proton production of heavy quarkonium

Yuxun Guo et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the near-threshold photo or electroproduction of heavy vector quarkonium off the proton, showing that the threshold kinematics has a large skewness parameter xi, leading to the dominance of the spin2 contribution. Threshold production data are useful to extract gluonic gravitational form factors and study gluonic contributions to various properties in the proton. The research uses recent GlueX data on J/Psi photoproduction to demonstrate the potential physics impact of high-precision data from future Jefferson Laboratory 12 GeV and Electron-Ion Collider physics program.

Gluon parton densities in soft-wall AdS/QCD

Valery E. Lyubovitskij et al.

Summary: In this study, gluon parton densities and form factors in the soft-wall AdS/QCD model were examined, showing that their power behavior at large values of the light-cone variable and square momentum align with quark counting rules. The transverse momentum distributions derived from this approach also adhere to the model-independent Mulders-Rodrigues inequalities without the need for specific model parameters. All gluon parton distributions are defined in terms of unpolarized and polarized gluon PDFs and profile functions, which are related to gluon PDFs via differential equations.

Nucleon mass radii and distribution: Holographic QCD, lattice QCD, and GlueX data

Kiminad A. Mamo et al.

Summary: The paper reviews the invariant A, B, D gravitational form factors of the nucleon in holographic QCD and compares them with gluonic gravitational form factors measured using lattice QCD simulations. The holographic A-term is related to the tensor Regge trajectory, while the D-term is determined by differences in Regge trajectories between gravitons and dilatons. The B-term is nonexistent without a tensor coupling to a Dirac fermion in bulk. The tensor form factor A-term can already be measured using GlueX data, providing insight into the properties of gluons inside the proton.

Gluon distributions and their applications to Ioffe-time distributions

Raza Sabbir Sufian et al.

Summary: In this study, unpolarized and polarized gluon distributions were investigated and parameterized to obtain consistent results, with a focus on their applications to Ioffe-time distributions in lattice QCD calculations. Our results can guide the extrapolation of lattice QCD data and help regulate the ill-posed inverse problem of extracting gluon distributions. Phenomenological approaches are important in obtaining complementary information and discussing higher-twist effects and systematic uncertainties in contemporary first-principle calculations of parton distributions.

New CTEQ global analysis of quantum chromodynamics with high-precision data from the LHC

Tie-Jiun Hou et al.

Summary: The new parton distribution functions (PDFs) from the CTEQ-TEA collaboration are determined using a wide variety of high-precision Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data, in addition to other datasets. These PDFs are analyzed at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order, with error sets determined using the Hessian method. The data sensitivity and preference towards quantities such as α(s)(m(Z)), and the gluon and strange quark distributions are quantified using fast PDF survey techniques.
