Environmental dimensions of the protein corona

Korin E. Wheeler et al.

Summary: This review discusses the importance of dynamic protein corona composition in mediating the fate of nanomaterials in the environment, as well as future steps in eco-corona studies. The formation of the biomolecular coating on nanomaterials entering the environment, known as the eco-corona, is still an emerging area of research. Proteins within the eco-corona play a crucial role in defining the biological identity of nanomaterials and their impacts on the environment.
