Interacting defects generate stochastic fluctuations in superconducting qubits

Summary: Studies have shown that the interaction between quantum bits and high-frequency and low-frequency two-level systems (TLSs) results in a variety of stochastic patterns in device loss. Experimental results suggest that the density of low-frequency TLSs is about three orders of magnitude larger than that of high-frequency TLSs, matching simulations.
