Probing strong-field two-photon transitions through dynamic interference

Attila Toth et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates how strong-field multiphoton transitions between dynamically shifted atomic levels can be traced in the energy spectra of emitted photoelectrons. By inducing two-photon Rabi oscillations between bound states of an atom with an ultrafast and intense laser pulse, researchers are able to observe pronounced dynamic interference patterns in the spectra. Numerical and analytical investigations revealed how the asymmetry, shifting, and splitting of interference structures in the computed photopeaks reflect the individual ac Stark shifts and two-photon Rabi frequency in the system.

Fast and robust exciton preparation in a coupled semiconductor quantum dot-metal nanoparticle system using shortcuts to adiabaticity

Athanasios Smponias et al.

Summary: Efficient preparation of the exciton state in a hybrid nanostructure composed of a semiconductor quantum dot and a metallic nanoparticle can be achieved using pulses derived with the method of shortcuts to adiabaticity. The population inversion fidelity degrades for smaller distances and longer pulse durations due to the stronger nonlinear terms in the interaction equations. This study is expected to contribute to the development of schemes for generating single photons on demand or ultrafast nanoswitches.

On the selective multiphoton ionization of sodium by femtosecond laser pulses: Apartial-wave analysis

A. Bunjac et al.

Summary: This study investigates the multiphoton ionization of sodium by femtosecond laser pulses at 800nm wavelength, within the over-the-barrier ionization domain. Results show that selective ionization through a single intermediate state is possible under appropriate laser intensities.

Energy and angular distributions of electrons from sodium atoms photo-ionized with femtosecond laser pulses

Y. Boran et al.

Summary: The study showed that sodium atoms undergo multi-step ionization through various intermediate levels when photo-ionized with intense short laser pulses, resulting in different energy spectra of photoelectrons. Photoelectron angular distributions (PADs) exhibited distinct features for different ATI orders, with main lobes around 60 degrees from the laser polarization and additional lobes becoming more pronounced with increasing ATI peak number. By fitting experimental PADs with Legendre polynomials, the contributions of ionization channels to observed ATI orders were evaluated, showing good agreement with the experimental data.

Competition between dynamic resonance and internal conversion in strong-field molecular ionization with chirped ultrafast laser pulses

Brian Kaufman et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the control of ionization yield to different ionic states in a polyatomic molecule by using the time-varying phase or frequency of a chirped strong-field ultrafast laser pulse. The competition between multiphoton resonance and internal conversion plays a crucial role in this control. The research highlights the competition between light-matter coupling and the coupled motions of electrons and nuclei in strong-field laser-molecule interactions.
