Symmetry-resolved entanglement detection using partial transpose moments

Antoine Neven et al.

Summary: We present a set of experimentally accessible conditions for detecting entanglement in mixed states, involving comparing moments of the partially transposed density operator up to a certain order, and find that the union of all moment inequalities can reproduce the Peres-Horodecki criterion. Our studies show that the first four conditions are already reliable in detecting mixed state entanglement in various quantum architectures, and exploiting symmetries can further enhance detection capabilities. We also demonstrate how to estimate moment inequalities based on local random measurements of single state copies and derive statistically sound confidence intervals as the number of measurements increases. Our analysis includes the experimentally relevant situation of drifting sources, i.e. non-identical, but independent, state copies.

Entanglement measures in a nonequilibrium steady state: Exact results in one dimension

Shachar Fraenkel et al.

Summary: This study examines the entanglement in a fermionic system and provides exact calculation results on the entanglement entropy. The findings reveal an unusual scaling of entanglement with the length of the subsystem, including both a linear volume-law term and a logarithmic term. The analysis also extends to a concrete model with one impurity site and presents good agreement between analytical expressions and numerical calculations.

Many-Body Physics in the NISQ Era: Quantum Programming a Discrete Time Crystal

Matteo Ippoliti et al.

Summary: Recent advancements in noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices have opened up new possibilities for studying many-body physics, with a focus on examining the potential of NISQ platforms in realizing discrete time crystals (DTC). Researchers are exploring the use of quantum simulators, such as Google's Sycamore processor, to programmatically detect and study the unique properties of DTC, a novel nonequilibrium state of matter that breaks time translation symmetry.Noise levels and hardware advancements allow for observable spatiotemporal order of DTC over hundreds of periods, highlighting the promising future of utilizing NISQ devices in studying complex quantum phenomena.
