Tailoring the RhB removal rate by modifying the PVDF membrane surface through ZnO particles deposition

Adriana Popa et al.

Summary: The study showed that coating with ZnO particles can improve the hydrophilic character of PVDF membranes and enhance the removal efficiency of RhB pollutant. The combined method of adsorption and photocatalysis can achieve efficient removal of RhB. Techniques including XRD, SEM, FT-IR, and EXD were used for analysis.

Visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of ofloxacin (OFL) antibiotic and Rhodamine B (RhB) dye by solvothermally grown ZnO/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction

Tammanoon Chankhanittha et al.

Summary: Hierarchical 3D ZnO/Bi2MoO6 heterojunctions were successfully fabricated via an in-situ solvothermal method, showing characteristic diffraction peaks corresponding to ZnO and Bi2MoO6 with band gap energies of 3.25 eV and 2.76 eV, respectively. The heterojunction exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance, achieving 100% and 92% efficiency in degrading OFL antibiotic and RhB dye, respectively, due to improved electron-hole separation and larger surface area.

Interplay between ferromagnetism and photocatalytic activity generated by Fe3+ ions in iron doped ZnO nanoparticles grown on MWCNTs

Adriana Popa et al.

Summary: A MWCNT-ZnO:Fe composite material was designed to achieve efficient photocatalytic degradation of RhB pollutant by limiting the recombination of photogenerated charges. Fe doping in ZnO Nps led to the formation of quasi-spherical structures on MWCNTs, enhancing charge separation efficiency. A 5% Fe doping degree resulted in the highest magnetization, 97% photodegradation efficiency, and 92% pollutant mineralization degree.

Summary: The study explored the effects of different preparation treatments on the performance and stability of ZnO-based polymeric composite films. A low ZnO/PVDF ratio, higher wet thickness, and the use of pore-forming agent and compatibilizer were found to be effective strategies for increasing photocatalytic efficiency. However, the composites exhibited deactivation after several minutes of exposure.
