Global coagulation assays in healthy controls: are there compensatory mechanisms within the coagulation system?

Hui Yin Lim et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the hemostatic profile of healthy controls using GCAs and found that females exhibited more hypercoagulable parameters in TEG and CAT, while individuals over 50 years old showed more hypercoagulable TEG parameters. Interestingly, individuals with reduced thrombin generation were associated with increased cardiovascular risk factors, possibly due to increased TFPI levels.
