Fault detection of planetary subassemblies in a wind turbine gearbox using TQWT based sparse representation

Wei Teng et al.

Summary: A sparse representation method based on tunable Q-factor wavelet transform is proposed to tackle the fault diagnosis challenge of planetary subassemblies in wind turbine gearbox. This method accurately decomposes faulty vibration signals into resonance components and noise, making it easier to detect potential fault information. Additionally, a normalized multi-stage enveloping spectrogram is introduced to reveal fault characteristic frequencies, even if they are weak, proving the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Wind turbine blade icing detection with multi-model collaborative monitoring method

Peng Guo et al.

Summary: This paper provides a detailed analysis of the impact of ice accretion on wind turbine performance and relevant operational parameters. The XGBoost method is used to accurately construct normal behavior models for output power and rotor speed, with the introduction of SPRT to analyze any abnormal changes. An ice accretion alarm is triggered if significant changes are detected when the ambient temperature is below zero.

A Data-Mining Approach for Wind Turbine Fault Detection Based on SCADA Data Analysis Using Artificial Neural Networks

Annalisa Santolamazza et al.

Summary: Wind energy has seen significant growth in installed power over the past decade, but the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) costs for wind farms can account for 20-30% of total costs, usually requiring additional sensors for monitoring methods. This study proposes a machine learning-based approach using SCADA system data to characterize wind turbine components and predict operational anomalies, offering significant help for wind farm maintenance.

A state-of-the-art review of the vibration and noise of wind turbine drivetrains

Ziyang Xu et al.

Summary: Wind energy is crucial for achieving carbon neutrality, but as wind turbine sizes increase for maximum energy capture, drivetrains face challenges of higher vibration and noise. This paper reviews vibration and noise in wind turbine drivetrains systematically, analyzing generation, discussing reduction technologies, and presenting research prospects. The design and application of large wind turbine drivetrains must balance opportunities and challenges related to vibration and noise.
