Stimulus-Responsive Nanoparticle Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agents: Design Considerations and Applications

Shengxiang Fu et al.

Summary: MRI is commonly used for disease diagnosis, and the development of stimulus-responsive contrast agents provides new opportunities to overcome the limitations of traditional contrast agents. By tuning the structural features of contrast agents, optimization of the T(1) and T(2) relaxation properties can be achieved, thereby improving the sensitivity and specificity of the contrast agents.

Magnetic resonance imaging for non-invasive clinical evaluation of normal and regenerated cartilage

Xian Xu et al.

Summary: With the advancement of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, utilizing MRI techniques to monitor the regeneration of knee cartilage after implantation of a biomaterial scaffold seeded with chondrocytes has shown promising results. The study found a significant difference between the regeneration site and normal neighboring site, with this difference gradually decreasing over a year of regeneration, as indicated by both quantitative T1 and T2 MRI methods. The correlation between MRI evaluation and clinical Lysholm scores was established for the first time, confirming MRI as a feasible semi-quantitative and non-invasive method for assessing in vivo knee articular cartilage regeneration.
