Intelligent Reflecting Surface Aided Multicasting With Random Passive Beamforming

Qin Tao et al.

Summary: This letter introduces a novel random passive beamforming scheme for a multicast system, which does not require CSI acquisition and outperforms traditional CSI-based schemes when N and/or the number of users are large. The optimal Q increases as the outage probability decreases.

Hybrid NOMA/OMA Broadcasting-and-Buffer-State-Based Relay Selection

Jun Kochi et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel buffer-aided relay selection scheme is proposed to integrate the concepts of NOMA and OMA in two-hop cooperative networks. The scheme allows relay nodes to share information packets through a source-to-relay broadcasting mode, switching between various modes such as NOMA, unicast, source broadcasting, and cooperative beamforming. The proposed scheme outperforms conventional buffer-aided cooperative schemes by adapting to the best mode in an adaptive manner, as demonstrated through analytical and numerical results.

Fast Channel Estimation for IRS-Assisted OFDM

Beixiong Zheng et al.

Summary: Efficient channel estimation schemes for an IRS-assisted OFDM system are proposed in this letter, optimized for different channel conditions. By jointly optimizing the pilot signal and IRS reflection pattern, shorter training time and better channel estimation performance can be achieved. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes compared to benchmark schemes.

Tensor-Based Algebraic Channel Estimation for Hybrid IRS-Assisted MIMO-OFDM

Yuxing Lin et al.

Summary: A method for channel estimation in MIMO-OFDM systems assisted by intelligent reconfigurable surfaces (IRSs) is proposed in this paper. By utilizing a hybrid IRS architecture and exploiting the sparse characteristics of high-frequency propagation, the multipath channel parameters are successfully estimated. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed schemes outperform traditional methods in terms of accuracy, robustness, and complexity.

Intelligent Resource Slicing for eMBB and URLLC Coexistence in 5G and Beyond: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Based Approach

Madyan Alsenwi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the resource slicing problem in a dynamic multiplexing scenario of two distinct 5G services, proposing an optimization-aided Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) framework to maximize eMBB data rate and maintain URLLC reliability constraint. By decomposing and transforming the optimization problem, as well as intelligently distributing traffic, the proposed approach can ensure URLLC reliability while keeping eMBB reliability above 90%.

HST-NNC: A Novel Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial Communication With NOMA and Network Coding Systems

Michail Karavolos et al.

Summary: Hybrid satellite-terrestrial networks (HSTNs) combine non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and network coding (NC) schemes to simultaneously serve users through satellite and terrestrial links, with the satellite using random linear network coding (RLNC) to enhance mobile terminal reception. Performance comparisons show that HST-NNC can achieve significant sum rate and BER gains compared to conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and NOMA optimal user pairing schemes.

Hybrid multiple access for channel allocation-aided eMBB and URLLC slicing in 5G and beyond systems

Elco J. dos Santos Junior et al.

Summary: In this work, a hybrid multiple access (HMA) scheme combining H-NOMA and H-OMA is proposed to increase the sum-rate of 5G and beyond networks. By applying HMA strategy in network slicing of eMBB and URLLC, significant gains are achieved compared to standalone MMD-aided H-OMA and H-NOMA schemes.
