Apparent modification of the jet-like yield in proton-proton collisions with large underlying event

Gyula Bencedi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the production of charged particles associated with high-p(T) trigger particles in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV using simulations with PYTHIA 8.244. The study explores the relative transverse activity classifier in di-hadron correlations. The results show that the signal in the away region becomes broader with increasing relative transverse activity, while the yield increases in the towards region.

Extraction of the multiplicity dependence of multiparton interactions from LHC pp data using machine learning techniques

Antonio Ortiz et al.

Summary: Machine learning methods have been successfully used in high-energy physics to extract MPI activity and study pp collisions. The study shows the dependence of <N-mpi> on center-of-mass energy and charged-particle multiplicity, providing evidence of MPI presence in pp collisions.

Disentangling the hard gluon bremsstrahlung effects from the relative transverse activity classifier in pp collisions

Gyula Bencedi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the particle production in proton-proton collisions using the relative transverse activity classifier R-T and proposes a modified version to enhance sensitivity to soft Multiparton Interactions. The preliminary results show unexpected findings, highlighting the importance of studying the origin and characteristics of particle production in high-multiplicity pp collisions. Further implementation of these ideas in data could provide more insights into hadron production mechanisms and their connection with heavy-ion phenomena.
