Automated rebar diameter classification using point cloud data based machine learning

Min-Koo Kim et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new method based on TLS and machine learning to automatically classify rebar diameters and accurately estimate rebar spacing, demonstrating a prediction accuracy of up to 97.2% for large rebar diameters. Key findings include the superiority of the proposed density-based modeling method for rebar diameter prediction and the importance of scan density in prediction results, especially in the small rebar diameter group.

Transferability of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to Measure Traffic Density

Jiyong Chung et al.

Summary: The study introduces a regression method using CNNs for vehicle counting, which simplifies model structure and reduces inference time; labeling images with vehicle count as labels requires less human effort, but training and testing on new road segments can be time-consuming; the study investigates pseudo label pre-training and image synthesis methods to alleviate human effort.
