This article presents a reliable solution for a Photovoltaic water pumping system under partial shading conditions, which utilizes a sorting algorithm and modified MPPT technique to maximize and track the PV array output power, and operates the induction motor using V/f control. Compared to other methods, the proposed technique uses a minimum number of voltage and current sensors, and simulation results in MATLAB demonstrate the superiority of the method under two shading conditions.
This article proposes a reliable solution for a Photovoltaic water pumping system under partial shading conditions. The proposed technique uses a sorting algorithm and modified MPPT technique to maximize and track the PV array output power. The induction motor operates using V/f control for which modulation index (m(a)) is generated from the modified MPPT algorithm. The proposed technique uses a minimum number of voltage and current sensors compared to a few other methods used for PV water pumping systems. The proposed scheme is simulated using MATLAB, and the responses are examined for two shading conditions. The simulated result shows the superiority of the proposed method under those conditions.
