Knema furfuracea is a tropical evergreen plant that belongs to the Myristicaceae family. Phytochemical investigation led to the isolation of 11 phenolic compounds, including a new flavonoid knemavane A. Compounds 1, 2, and 6 showed inhibitory activities against nitric oxide production in LPS-activated macrophages.
Knema furfuracea is a tropical evergreen plant, which belongs to Myristicaceae family. Phytochemical investigation on the twigs and leaves of K. furfuracea led to the isolation of 11 phenolic compounds, including a new flavonoid knemavane A (1). These compounds belong to flavonoids, lignans, and anarardic acids. Biological evaluation of the inhibitory activities of compounds 1-11 against nitric oxide (NO) production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 macrophages showed that compounds 1 (IC50 = 13.79 mu M), 2 (IC50 = 9.28 mu M), and 6 (IC50 = 15.14 mu M) were active.
