This paper focuses on Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) transmission in small dense networks, proposing a novel JT-CoMP scheme to minimize network backhaul while utilizing limited radio resources. The results demonstrate that the proposed CoMP scheme achieves the highest sum rate in comparison to other schemes.
This paper is devoted to the coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission in small dense networks. We consider the joint transmission (JT) scheme, which achieves more performance gains at the expense of high backhaul overheads. To solve this issue, we develop a novel JT-CoMP scheme to minimize the network backhaul traffic subject to limited radio resources. A new coordination priority of UEs is configured at the CoMP control unit (CCU) as a function of the required quality of service (QoS) and the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). Afterwards, the CCU considers the reported channel state information (CSI) and users' coordination priority to make smart clustering decisions. Simulation results are given to compare to other CoMP schemes covered in the literature such as the N-best way and the best power cooperation (BPC). It is shown that the proposed CoMP scheme achieves the highest sum rate with the minimum network backhaul.
