Vulnerability of Cyber-Physical Systems to Stealth Attacks: Application to a Chemical Process

Ask authors/readers for more resources

This research applies recent findings on the vulnerability of cyber-physical systems to detect their robustness to stealthy attacks. The aim is to minimize the impact of attacks on bottom line safety and performance.
With the proliferation of mobile and highly connected electronic devices and their incorporation into physical infrastructures like chemical plants, the safety of cyber-physical systems has become an extremely important issue. Detection of adversarial, well-directed attacks and measures to minimize their impact on the bottom line safety and performance are gaining a lot of importance. This work applies some of the recently published results on the vulnerability of a CPS representable as a linear stochastic dynamical system to a typical chemical process and understand how robust it is to stealthy attacks and how its performance changes for different attack scenarios.
