Men's Reflections on Postsuicide Attempt Episode in Bangladesh

Anisur Rahman Khan et al.

Summary: This study is the first in Bangladesh to provide understanding of men’s reflections after a suicide attempt, specifically in a high suicide-prone area. Survivors encountered immediate reactions targeting their masculinity, but coped through self-deprecation, rebuilding, revenge/forgiveness, and escape/nonreactive impulses. The postattempt episodes may lead to further risk factors, necessitating protective measures and a context-specific suicide prevention model.
