Summary: Voluntary supply chain regulation has been widely implemented in response to concerns about the social and environmental impacts of global production and trade. However, its effectiveness in influencing production practices on the ground has been questioned. This study examines the challenges and limitations of voluntary supply chain governance in the Indonesian tin sector and highlights unintended consequences, including the consolidation of power among political and economic elites.
