Differential effects of Zn concentrations on Cr(VI) uptake by twoSalviniaspecies: involvement of thiol compounds

Carolina Prado et al.

Summary: This study compared the accumulation of Cr and Zn in floating leaves of Salvinia minima and Salvinia rotundifolia, showing that Zn had different effects on Cr accumulation and translocation in the two species, as well as affecting membrane stability and hydrogen peroxide accumulation. The study also revealed differential impacts of Zn on thiols in response to Cr(VI) and Zn ions, providing evidence of different mechanisms against Cr(VI)/Zn toxicity in S. minima and S. rotundifolia species.
