Transient DC Bias Current Reducing for Bidirectional Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC Converter by Modifying Modulation

Caiwei Yang et al.

Summary: By staggering the load time values of the primary bridge and secondary bridge in the modulation process, the transient dc bias current in dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter can be reduced or eliminated. This modified modulation scheme does not require any transitional period or extra calculation, and the time delay in the closed-loop control is constant and smaller than previous schemes. The experimental results confirm the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the practical feasibility of the modified modulation schemes.

Loss Imbalance and Transient DC-Bias Mitigation in Dual-Active-Bridge DC/DC Converters

Shien Wang et al.

Summary: The article discusses the importance of PWM generation techniques in improving the performance of DAB converters using TPS modulation, which is often overlooked. A comprehensive PWM generation technique is proposed to address issues such as switching loss imbalances and transient dc biases, resulting in enhanced performance and fast dynamic responses of the converters. The proposed modulation and PWM generation strategy have been verified with a laboratory prototype.

Generic Dynamic Phase-Shift Control for Bidirectional Dual-Active Bridge Converters

Jingxin Hu et al.

Summary: This letter proposes a generic method for modeling and mitigating the transient dc bias in the transformer winding current and magnetizing flux linkage of the dual-active bridge (DAB) converter. The method is valid for commonly used modulation methods like single phase-shift, extended phase-shift, dual phase-shift, and triple phase-shift. By performing a simple dynamic volt-seconds balancing in each half-bridge independently, the proposed method can achieve new reference steady states for the winding current and flux linkage with significantly suppressed transient dc-bias components.
