Quench Dynamics of Collective Modes in Fractional Quantum Hall Bilayers

Zhao Liu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces different types of quenches to probe the nonequilibrium dynamics and multiple collective modes of bilayer fractional quantum Hall states, showing oscillations of a spin-1 degree of freedom induced by applying an electric field and activation of quadrupole mode and combination of two spin-1 states by a sudden change of band mass anisotropy. An effective field theory is constructed to describe the quench dynamics of these collective modes, with excellent agreement between the derived dynamics for both the spin-2 and spin-1 states and numerical results demonstrated.

Fractional charge and fractional statistics in the quantum Hall effects

D. E. Feldman et al.

Summary: This article discusses the key features of the fractional quantum Hall effect, focusing on quasiparticles with fractional charge and statistics. It provides detailed definitions and methods for observing these properties, along with a review of current experimental status and discussions on non-Abelian statistics. The attempts to find experimental evidence for non-Abelian quasiparticles in certain quantum Hall systems are also explored.

Graviton chirality and topological order in the half-filled Landau level

F. D. M. Haldane et al.

Summary: Studying the fractional quantum Hall state at Landau level filling factor 5/2 is intriguing as it may be the first non-Abelian state, and its precise nature can potentially be resolved by examining the chirality of its graviton excitations using circularly polarized Raman scattering, which has advantages over existing edge probes.

Anisotropic quantum Hall states in the presence of interactions with fourfold rotational symmetry

Prashant Kumar et al.

Summary: The study reveals that anisotropic interactions have different effects on the Laughlin state and CFL state in the quantum Hall effect with a fourfold discrete rotational symmetry, depending on the range of interaction. Moreover, the strength of anisotropy decreases as the interaction becomes shorter ranged. Surprisingly, the deformation in the CF Fermi surface changes sign as the interaction range is reduced at nu = 1/2.

Squeezing anyons for braiding on small lattices

N. S. Srivatsa et al.

Summary: Adiabatically exchanging anyons can achieve topologically protected operations on the quantum state, but separating the anyons sufficiently to achieve the desired result requires a large area. By squeezing the charge distribution of Abelian anyons using optimization techniques, we can exchange the anyons in a smaller area with close to ideal outcomes, showing robustness to small modifications in the potential. The time needed for the exchange process is longer for squeezed anyons compared to normal anyons, but the squeezed anyons exhibit closer outcomes to ideal values.
