Cavity-assisted preparation and detection of a unitary Fermi gas

K. Roux et al.

Summary: This paper reports the fast production and weakly destructive detection of a Fermi gas with tunable interactions in a high finesse cavity. The cavity is used to create an optical dipole trap and to reach the strong light-matter coupling regime, allowing for the observation of slow atom-number variations and the study of strongly correlated quantum matter.

Observation of a superradiant quantum phase transition in an intracavity degenerate FeYrmi gas

Xiaotian Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents an experimental realization of a superradiant quantum phase transition of a degenerate Fermi gas in a transversely pumped optical cavity. By increasing the pumping intensity, the self-ordering checkerboard density pattern of Fermi gases and superradiant transitions of the cavity field spontaneously emerge. The effects of Fermi statistics are demonstrated through an inverse square root scaling of the threshold with atom number and the slow dynamics of low-atomic momentum states.

Long-range-ordered phase in a quantum Heisenberg chain with interactions beyond nearest neighbors

Zehan Li et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the emergence of quantum phases in a system where spin ensembles are coupled to optical cavities, resulting in the spontaneous breaking of continuous U(1) symmetry and the presence of XY order. The study shows that even an infinitely weak infinite-range interaction can induce XY order in the system. Additionally, the violation of the area law logarithmically in the half-chain entanglement entropy is demonstrated in the U(1) symmetry-broken phase.

Cavity QED with quantum gases: new paradigms in many-body physics

Farokh Mivehvar et al.

Summary: The field of quantum-gas cavity QED has rapidly evolved over the past decade, offering opportunities to implement, simulate, and experimentally test fundamental solid-state Hamiltonians as well as non-equilibrium many-body phenomena. Notable experiments have observed various phenomena by designing and controlling photon-induced tunable-range interactions in open quantum environments.
