Anisole derivatives as sustainable-green inhibitors for mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl: DFT and molecular dynamic simulations approach

A. Bouoidina et al.

Summary: The search for new corrosion inhibitors that are cost-effective and environmentally friendly is a key challenge in the chemical industry. This study focused on three anisole derivatives for inhibiting steel corrosion in a 1MHCl acid medium, showing high inhibitory efficiency exceeding 80% at an optimal concentration of 10(3) M with compound P1 being the most effective. The inhibitors follow Langmuir isotherm, forming a protective film on the metal surface to block anodic dissolution and cathodic reduction reactions.

Inhibition of mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl by chondroitin sulfate and its synergistic effect with sodium alginate

Weiwei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a natural polysaccharide mixture inhibitor composed of chondroitin sulfate derived from pig cartilage (CS-PC) and sodium alginate (SA) was developed for the protection of mild steel in hydrochloric acid media. The synergistic effect of the two polysaccharides towards adsorption on mild steel in 1 M HCl was investigated using various methods such as weight loss test, electrochemical investigations, SEM, SECM, and UV methods.
