Mechanism of dark current dependence on reverse voltage in mid-wavelength infrared HgCdTe mesa PIN avalanche diode

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between dark current and reverse voltage of mid-wavelength infrared Hg1-xCdxTe (x=0.3) mesa p-i-n avalanche diode. It was found that dark current is mainly caused by tunneling current at low temperatures, transitioning to direct band-to-band tunneling as the reverse voltage increases. The results may guide the improvement of mid-wavelength infrared APD detector performance by prioritizing different structural parameters.

Absorption enhancement of thin layer black phosphorous in the mid-infrared with an all-dielectric metasurface

By converting incident infrared light into surface waves and enhancing the electric field at the center of the structure, the absorption rate of thin layer BP is significantly increased. The lossless and absorption enhancement properties of the metasurface structure may have potential applications in highly efficient 2D photodetectors.
