Active Vibration Control of a Large Space Antenna Structure Using Cable Actuator

Guangyu Lu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a vibration suppression method for a large deployable antenna structure using cables as active actuators. The finite element method is used to obtain modal information, and an optimization method for actuator position is established based on controllability principle and particle swarm optimization algorithm. A piecewise cost function is adopted to design the control law, which effectively suppresses vibration and maintains the shape accuracy of the antenna structure according to numerical simulations.

Influence of nonlinear fluid viscous dampers in controlling the seismic response of the base-isolated buildings

Ahmet Hilmi Deringol et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the effectiveness of a nonlinear fluid viscous damper (NFVD) in base-isolated buildings with lead rubber bearings (LRB), considering design parameters. Evaluations were done through modelling and nonlinear time history analyses to assess the damper's impact.

A Framework with reduced computational burden for Seismic Fragility Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Buildings in High-Intensity Seismic Zones

Muhammad Zain et al.

Summary: The study aims to develop analytical fragility relationships of RC buildings in high-intensity seismic zones by considering the effects of higher structural modes. A new framework is presented to assess vulnerability based on modal responses in building structures. By using the developed methodology, higher modes can be incorporated in the fragility assessment, reducing computational time significantly.
