Battery Sizing for Mild P2 HEVs Considering the Battery Pack Thermal Limitations

Gulnora Yakhshilikova et al.

Summary: This study investigates thermal limitations of small capacity and passively cooled battery packs, and discusses the use of an equivalent consumption minimization strategy with a supervisory controller. Results show that the thermal limitations increase fuel consumption and may lead to high temperatures, while the adoption of a larger capacity battery pack reduces fuel consumption.

Effects of drivetrain hybridization on fuel economy, performance and costs of a fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle

Silvio C. A. de Almeida et al.

Summary: Fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FCHEVs) are considered the most attractive long-term option for passenger cars, but barriers such as cost, durability, and hydrogen refueling infrastructure must be overcome for wider use. The study models a midsized FCHEV in ADVISOR to analyze the impact of hybridization on vehicle performance and costs, with results showing improvements in fuel economy and reduction in vehicle cost by adjusting the fuel cell stack power and number of battery modules.

An improved MPC-based energy management strategy for hybrid vehicles using V2V and V2I communications

Hongwen He et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an improved MPC framework for the EMS of PHEB, aiming to achieve optimal energy distribution with increased prediction accuracy and optimized speed sequences. The speed prediction accuracy is improved between two traffic intersections using the PSO method, while the optimal speed sequence is planned in advance when passing through a traffic intersection.
