Fast & accurate emulation of two-body scattering observables without wave functions

J. A. Melendez et al.

Summary: The article presents a fast and accurate emulator for two-body scattering observables, which combines Newton's variational method with ideas from eigenvector continuation. The emulator is shown to accurately extrapolate far from the support of the training data, providing significant improvement in CPU time when used to emulate interactions with multiple free parameters.

Rigorous constraints on three-nucleon forces in chiral effective field theory from fast and accurate calculations of few-body observables

S. Wesolowski et al.

Summary: This study explores the constraints on the three-nucleon force (3NF) of chiral effective field theory (xEFT) by incorporating experimental error, computational method uncertainty, and the uncertainty due to truncation of the xEFT expansion at next-to-next-to-leading order. Including xEFT truncation errors in the analysis is crucial for obtaining a consistent solution for the binding energy and decay rate of certain nuclear states. The findings suggest an xEFT expansion parameter of Q = 0.33 +/- 0.06 for the observed nuclear properties.

Power counting in chiral effective field theory and nuclear binding

C-J Yang et al.

Summary: The study systematically explores recent RG-invariant formulations of chiral effective field theory and their predictions for selected nuclear systems up to A = 16. Results show that RG-invariant and realistic predictions can be obtained for nuclei with mass number A <= 4, but further fine-tuning of relevant counterterms may be needed for nuclei with mass number A > 4 in current state-of-the-art RG-invariant PC schemes based on chi EFT at LO.
