Mechanism study of mechanochemical bromination on fly ash mercury removal adsorbent

Xinze Geng et al.

Summary: Current approaches for Mechanochemical bromination (MCB) modified fly ash have been focusing on the efficiency and mechanism of mercury removal. Results showed that the activation mechanism of MCB mainly enhances the mercury removal ability of fly ash due to the generation of C-Br with activated carbon and M-Br on hematite.

Elemental mercury removal by I--doped Bi2WO6 with remarkable visible-light-driven photocatalytic oxidation

Yili Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, iodine-doped Bi2WO6 composites were synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal method to evaluate their photocatalytic efficiency in gas-phase elemental mercury removal under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that 1.0 wt.% iodine-doped Bi2WO6 exhibited the optimal Hg-0 removal efficiency due to reduced potential energy in the conduction band, decreased recombination rate of electron-hole pairs, and accelerated charge transfer. The density functional theory calculations suggested that iodine doping occurred in the (WO4)(2-) layer, facilitating the adsorption of oxidized HgO on the surface of the doped Bi2WO6.

Highly efficient simultaneous removal of HCHO and elemental mercury over Mn-Co oxides promoted Zr-AC samples

Xueyu Du et al.

Summary: The Mn2/3Co8/Zr-10-AC prepared by impregnation method showed excellent efficiency in simultaneous removal of HCHO and Hg-0, attributed to higher dispersion of active components facilitated by increased surface area and pore volume. The co-doping of MnOx-CoOx enhanced the sample with more active oxygen species and higher reducibility, leading to improved removal of HCHO and Hg-0.
