Effects of the morphological characteristics of plants on rainfall interception and kinetic energy

Ting Yan et al.

Summary: This study explored the impact of plant morphological characteristics on water adsorption by branches and leaves, as well as the effects on rainfall interception, redistribution, and kinetic energy. Results showed that tree species with trichomes on their leaves had the highest water adsorption. Leaf area index, mean leaf area, and leaf shape factor significantly affected rainfall interception, while stemflow and throughfall were influenced by diffuse non-interceptance.
