Breaking up the Proton: An Affair with Dark Forces

Graham D. Kribs et al.

Summary: The deep inelastic scattering of e(+/-) off protons is sensitive to contributions from dark photon exchange. Utilizing HERA data fit to HERA's parton distribution functions (PDFs), a model-independent bound on the kinetic mixing between hypercharge and the dark photon is obtained, improving on previous bounds. The proposed Large Hadron Electron Collider is anticipated to provide substantial improvements in probing the effects of a dark photon throughout its mass range, including higher masses up to 100 TeV.

Parton distributions and lattice-QCD calculations: Toward 3D structure

Martha Constantinou et al.

Summary: The theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) describes the strong force binding hadrons together. Parton distribution functions (PDFs) have been successful in describing collinear partons within hadrons, but new experiments are exploring the transverse structure using generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs). Different methods, including perturbative QCD factorization theorems and lattice-QCD calculations, are used to determine PDFs and generalize the understanding of hadron structure.

Strong constraints from COSINE-100 on the DAMA dark matter results using the same sodium iodide target

Govinda Adhikari et al.

Summary: The COSINE-100 experiment presents new constraints on dark matter interactions using 1.7 years of data, with improved sensitivity and event selection requirements. No signal consistent with dark matter interactions was identified, ruling out model-dependent interpretations of the DAMA signals in the context of the standard halo model.

Improved exclusion limit for light dark matter from e+ e- annihilation in NA64

Yu M. Andreev et al.

Summary: By considering A' production through secondary positron annihilation with atomic electrons, this study extends the constraints on sub-GeV dark matter existence in the 200-300 MeV region by almost an order of magnitude, touching for the first time the dark matter relic density constrained parameter combinations, demonstrating the power of the resonant annihilation process in missing-energy dark matter searches.

Annual modulation results from three-year exposure of ANAIS-112

J. Amare et al.

Summary: ANAIS is a dark matter direct detection experiment using NaI(Tl) detectors in Spain, aiming to confirm or refute the DAMA/LIBRA positive result of an annual modulation signal induced by dark matter particles. The latest analysis of three years of data shows an absence of modulation signal, contradicting the results of previous experiments.
