Catalyst design to direct high-octane gasoline fuel properties for improved engine efficiency

Connor P. Nash et al.

Summary: The study introduces bimetallic catalysts to control the paraffin-to-olefin ratio in the conversion of dimethyl ether to high-octane hydrocarbons. The Cu-Zn/BEA catalyst showed higher dehydrogenation activity, resulting in a lower P/O ratio, while the Cu-Ni/BEA catalyst exhibited increased hydrogenation activity, leading to a higher P/O ratio. The product from Cu-Zn/BEA had the highest efficiency merit value among the three BEA catalysts compared to finished gasolines and alkylate blendstock.

Feasibility Study of Combining Direct Air Capture of CO2 and Methanation at Isothermal Conditions with Dual Function Materials

Chae Jeong-Potter et al.

Summary: The use of dual function materials (DFM) for combined direct air capture (DAC) of CO2 followed by methanation has been proven feasible. The DFM allows for capture and conversion of CO2 to occur using a single material and reactor at one temperature, maintaining high CO2 capture capacity and producing methane through multiple cycles. Additionally, cyclic operation with the DFM is possible in the presence of moisture, indicating further potential for use in DAC scenarios.

Summary: This paper investigates CO2 capture at room temperature and atmospheric pressure using a fluidized bed of Ca(OH)(2) powder, finding that an increase in relative humidity promotes CO2 capture, especially at near 100% RH.
