Phenomenology of Spectral Functions in Disordered Spin Chains at Infinite Temperature

Lev Vidmar et al.

Summary: Recent research on disordered spin chains has focused on the relationship between exact numerical calculations and the existence of a many-body localization phase transition, particularly in cases where disorder is significantly greater than spin interaction strength. A phenomenological theory based on proximity to the noninteracting limit, such as the Anderson insulator, has been introduced to explain intriguing features observed in these systems. This theory quantitatively describes the dynamics of certain observables in finite interacting systems across a wide range of disorders.

Coexistence of diffusive and ballistic transport in integrable quantum lattice models

P. Prelovsek et al.

Summary: This study investigates the high-temperature dynamical conductivity in two one-dimensional integrable quantum lattice models, the XXZ spin chain and the Hubbard chain. The results reveal a fine structure of conductivity spectra in the XXZ chain, but do not find clear evidence for a diffusive component, at least not for certain values of parameters. The conclusion is similar for the Hubbard model away from half-filling, showing more universal behavior in the spectra.

Many-body localization as a percolation phenomenon

P. Prelovsek et al.

Summary: The dynamics in the standard model of many-body localization is confined to disconnected many-body clusters in the Fock space for strong disorders. The MBL transition is located via the universal cluster distribution and the emergence of the macroscopic cluster. The relaxation processes capture well the diffusion transport found in the full quantum model, with an anomalous transport emerging from weak links between MB states in a broad transient regime.
