miRNA activity inferred from single cell mRNA expression

Morten Muhlig Nielsen et al.

Summary: Utilizing motif enrichment analysis, miRNA activity estimates can be derived from scRNAseq data, allowing for insights into miRNA dynamics at the single cell level. This method has been shown to accurately estimate miRNA activity in sparse data comparable to scRNAseq experiments, with results supported by existing literature. The miRNA activity estimates have been implemented in the miReact software for use in various fields where scRNAseq is applied.

Application of microRNA Database Mining in Biomarker Discovery and Identification of Therapeutic Targets for Complex Disease

Jennifer L. Major et al.

Summary: miRNAs play a major role in human diseases and are increasingly being investigated as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Analysis identified miRNAs with shared expression patterns in ischemia/reperfusion injury, coronary artery disease, stroke, and obesity, suggesting their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in complex human diseases. Target analysis revealed hsa-miR-21 as a key miRNA regulating genes related to inflammation and cell growth/death in these diseases.
