Crystal and molecular structures of dichlorido-palladium(II) containing 2-methyl- or 2-phenyl-8-(diphenyphosphanyl)quinoline

Summary: The crystal structures of three dichloridopalladium(II) complexes were analyzed, showing that the methyl- and phenyl-substituted compounds exhibit tetrahedral distortion around the PdII center, while the phenyl-substituted compound shows a twist conformation. This twist conformation prevents any intermolecular pi-pi stacking interaction between the quinoline planes, which is observed in the crystals of the other two complexes.
