Dynamical symmetry indicators for Floquet crystals

Jiabin Yu et al.

Summary: A general theory for Floquet topology applicable to all crystalline symmetry groups is still needed, and in this work, the authors propose such a theory for effectively non-interacting Floquet crystals. They predict various nontrivial classifications of anomalous Floquet topological phases and identify a new 3+1D anomalous Floquet second-order topological insulator phase with anomalous chiral hinge modes.

Anomalous Floquet Chiral Topological Superconductivity in a Topological Insulator Sandwich Structure

Rui-Xing Zhang et al.

Summary: Floquet chiral topological superconductivity naturally arises in Josephson junctions made of magnetic topological insulator-superconductor sandwich structures. Applying a bias voltage across the junction drives the system into an anomalous Floquet chiral topological superconductor with chiral Majorana edge modes in the quasienergy spectrum. The bias voltage serves as a tuning parameter enabling novel Floquet topological quantum phase transitions leading to exotic Majorana-carrying Floquet topological superconducting phases.

Superconductors with anomalous Floquet higher-order topology

DinhDuy Vu et al.

Summary: A general theory for two-dimensional anomalous Floquet higher-order topological superconductors (AFHOTSCs), which are dynamical Majorana-carrying phases with no static counterpart, has been developed. The key to AFHOTSCs lies in their singular behavior in the phase spectrum of the bulk time-evolution operator, leading to the simultaneous presence of corner-localized Majorana modes at zero and pi/T quasienergies. By mapping these phase singularities to stroboscopic boundary signatures, 2D AFHOTSCs protected by a rotation group symmetry in symmetry class D have been classified, with a higher-order topological index extracted for predicting the presence of Floquet corner Majorana modes.

Symmetry analysis of anomalous Floquet topological phases

Weiwei Zhu et al.

Summary: This work presents a physically motivated and easy-to-implement approach to enhance symmetry analysis to distinguish between different Floquet topological phases, particularly in the case of an inversion-symmetric periodically driven system. It shows that stable dynamical symmetry inversion points can be used to differentiate topological states from normal insulators, even when their symmetry eigenvalues are the same.

Faithful derivation of symmetry indicators: A case study for topological superconductors with time-reversal and inversion symmetries

Sheng-Jie Huang et al.

Summary: The study proposes a protocol for predicting boundary features using symmetry indicators, combining topological crystal classification in real space and equivariant K-group analysis in momentum space. By systematically matching bases, clear bulk-boundary correspondence indicators are obtained. The protocol is demonstrated using a two-dimensional time-reversal odd-parity superconductor example, showing its applicability for predicting materials with various boundary features in topological crystalline superconductors.
